The nation’s soybean crop is rated 64 percent good to excellent and that’s the same as last week. 96 percent of the nation’s soybean crop has set pods and 8 percent is dropping leaves.
5 percent of the Illinois soybean crop is dropping leaves, 14 percent of Indiana’s soybean crop is dropping leaves, 3 percent of Iowa’s beans are dropping leaves and 2 percent of Minnesota’s bean plants are dropping leaves.
The nation’s corn crop is rated 70 percent good to excellent and that’s unchanged from last week.
73 percent of the nation’s corn has dented compared to the five-year average of 55 percent and 17 percent is mature compared to the average of 11 percent.
34 percent of the Illinois corn crop is mature, Indiana has 21 percent at the mature level, Iowa is at 8 percent and South Dakota and Minnesota are both at 2 percent mature.
Taking a closer look at Minnesota’s crops: As of August 29th 14 percent of the state’s soybeans were turning yellow. Soybeans are rated 89 percent good to excellent and that’s unchanged from last week.
Corn progress continues ahead of average. 68 percent of Minnesota’s corn crop was in the dent stage and 2 percent mature. Minnesota’s corn crop is rated 91 percent good to excellent and that’s up slightly from last week.
12 percent of Minnesota’s corn for silage has been harvested.
97 percent of Minnesota’s spring wheat crop has been harvested.
